The afternoon session of camp on Day 1 was a bit smaller than the morning group but it gave us all a chance to really spend intentional time with the kids we had. They taught us a fun game about a pop-sicle man which really helps teach us our colors in Portuguese. Afternoon was smoother than the morning…we have the schedule down now!! Not to brag Team 1 but we were out of the church in 30 minutes! (and Fufa has grown to love us possibly more than Team 1…ha)
I just love WinShape because every day has a surprise…usually revolving around food! We stopped on the way back to Agua Viva (Living Water) for ice cream. Mr. John and Brent gave us a tour of the city while Marney, Andre and FUFA drove fearlessly through the traffic. Donna GonGon had a Southern Style Brazilian Feast waiting for us when we got home including fried chicken, fried okra, pumpkin, homemade chips, rice and beans, and passion fruit cake. If you haven’t figured it out, we eat a lot here! We love the food and will try anything. We have a new slogan. Instead of “go big or go home’, we say “GO HOME BIG!!!”
After dinner we went frog hunting. The guys had fun scaring the girls. Fun fact: Jacob knows way too much information about frogs! If you have any question, ask him! Jessica was a little scared of the tree frog Jacob was holding and told him to hold it tight…she didn’t want the frog to come on to her!
The sky is unbelievably beautiful no matter what time a day it is! When we left for cap yesterday morning at 5:45 the sunrise was amazing and every time I look it’s breathtaking! Last night the sky was orange…Andre said that means it will rain today. It hasn’t yet but it would be nice! We’ve been lucky not to have rain during camp but it would be nice to cool things off a little.
We got to sleep in this morning! Breakfast was at 6:15. When we arrived at the church campers were waiting outside for us! They are so excited about camp. This morning has been wonderful. We did the Cupid Shuffle with the kids…they might think Americans are crazy! People in the apartment buildings around us have been staring out the windows wondering what we’re doing! Leo and Mauricio have thrown a lot of new worship songs at us! It’s funny to watch us try to repeat what they say!
Alison was featured today for her birthday! We sang in Portuguese and then in English. She never thought she would have a camp birthday…much less in Brazil! We have painted fish, played tail tag and made paper airplanes with the campers today! It has been amazing! Jocob, Brittany and I (Mallory) painted our faces for our groups! Yellow, Green and AZUL!!! (I’m not bias ☺). The kids loved it and wanted some on theirfaces.
The last surprise that we had today was a visit from Andrea and Chico. These two great young people were members of the Church that John and Trudy served with in a town close to here. Also, Andrea was Joy’s (John and Trudy’s Oldest daughter) best friend as a child. If any of The White’s are reading, they said hello and are sending hugs your way!
I think I can speak for everyone when I say that this experience is beyond words! We can’t express how grateful we are to be here, loving on these kids. They are so loving and really excited to see us when they get here. I have loved every minute and will really hate to leave Agua Viva. Marney, Andre and the rest of the staff have really done an excellent job showing us around and translating for us! We are so blessed to be a part of WinShape Camps International Project! I can’t wait to see how the Lord works in and through us the rest of this week! Thanks to those back home who have been praying for us! We miss you all and are excited to share our stories!

Ashley is finally getting to enjoy a nap after blogging for an hour and a half yesterday. She says that Round Up should become the new aerobic exercise phenomenon.
Brittany is snoozing…worn out after a grande group of 4-8 year old's
Brenche (Brent) found a new camper friend who kept trying to talk to him. Brent just smiles and nods!
Jacob is wearing his hat backwards! Pedro says it’s cooler that way.
Jon Gigante is a jungle gym.
Angela Fielder about lost her shorts in tail tag!
Hubenacker might not be able to get used to taking just one shower a day after being in Brazil for 3 weeks and taking multiple showers every day

My (Mallory’s) Portuguese is acrescentando (growing)
