Rice and Beans Never Tasted SO Good!

It is Wednesday, half way through is incredible experience. We started out the day by eating yet another delicious breakfast. (When Brent said we would be eating a lot he not kidding at all!) After eating we loading everything up and got on the road. Our drive to the church seems to becoming quicker and quicker each day.  Arrival at the church is one of my (Keenan) favorite parts!  It is so great to be welcomed Brazilian style!  I have been continually amazed at how we, as a team, have come together. The team chemistry of both Americans and Brazilians is more than anything that any of us could have hoped for. It is only through the work of the Spirit that this is happening it is “Muito Bom” (Very Good). Today the campers are being taught where they can find “Amor” (love) and that is found in Christ and His greatest display of love is in his death, burial, and resurrection.

As for the morning session, it felt as if time flew by!  Wacky Science made slushies, Arts and Crafts began their “Fluffy Lambs” and at games we played a game using pool noodles and beach ball to play a polo type game.  The wonder and excitement in the campers continues to fuel our efforts and we look forward to our afternoon group.  Tomorrow is likely to be very interesting because not only will we be having campers in attendance but also their parents.  If it is a packed house with just campers I can’t imagine it with the parents also. I can’t wait to see our daily “Round Up” song tomorrow!

Being a part of WinShape history and a part of the first international camp project (as well as a part of the history and the lives of these children) is one of the greatest things that any of us could hope to be a part in this lifetime. We have improved a good deal with our Portuguese, but in the areas we fail in verbal communication we make up for in being able to display the deep love of Christ through our actions towards them.  We’re also growing in our “charades” skills – when all else fails…use motions!

I get so excited at the thought of the heavenly impact that will be made from this WSC IP!

John and Trudy – are going to miss team 1 very, very much.

Angela Rubenacker – would typically be considered to possess some serious energy but she found herself getting an extra “jolt” last night while removing an electrical outlet transformer

Carol Erica – has created a new international hand gesture for “need more toilet paper”! Brazilians and Americans love it. Ask her to show you how!

Lauren – could make a living teaching dance and asking questions.

Kristin – wants everyone to refer too her as Mini Marney.

Adrianne – is learning lots of Brazilian hand games (and is considering adding it as a skill at Girl’s Camp…okay…maybe not)

Savannah – still has flashback being dragged by a horse

Melodie – knows she has a place to stay here in P. Norte if she ever finds herself homeless

Tiffany – knows almost all the campers by name (from working registration)!!

Keenan (me) – advises to not buy phone cards from Atlanta airport, they don’t work out of the country

Leslie –  is thankful for that the projector worked great for our second group after this morning’s technical difficulties mixed with the language barrier…ay yiy yiy!

Juliana – wants to wish her mom a happy birthday!!!

Jimmy – Has shown us all that Zac Effron can not hold a candle to his (Jimmy Simpsons) High School Musical dance moves

Tricia – feels right at home anywhere she can wear silly clothes and big glasses

The streets look like rivers in P. Norte from our daily downpour and we’ve all gotten an aerobic workout from (Janie Bird) dancing to entertain the children inside!  We’ll be tired on the ride home, but trust out fearless (literally) driver, Fofa, to brave the river-like roads!
