Team 1 has Arrived

Yesterday Team one wrapped up a fun day of training in Atlanta as we prepared for what was in store for the 2011 WinShape Camps International Project.  We spent Thursday evening and all day on Friday preparing for what we will be doing all week, reviewing cultural lessons, walking through the skills that we are offering in Brasilia, and spending some great quality time together as a team.

Around 6:00 yesterday we headed to the Atlanta Airport to get ready for our 9:00 flight from Atlanta to Brasilia.  We have a lot to be thankful for as we made it through ticking and security with a breeze.  The only snag that we ran into was a  misinterpretation with two of our team member's visas (the travel document to get into Brazil).  With that being said, two of our team members were held back for an additional day in Atlanta as we figured this out.

As much as this does sound like bad news, we can rejoice in several things.  First we can celebrate that all of Team 1 who were able to board the plane made it to Brasilia with ease and a great flight.  The team landed, were greeted by some of our friends in Brasilia, and headed out to our training center at Aqua Viva.  Everyone is safe and sound in Brazil!

The other great news is that we have worked all morning today with the airline here in the states and in Brazil as well as Brazilian officials in Brasilia to get all the misinterpretations taken care of - therefore the two remaining team members, Alison N. and Daniel B. will be well on their way to meet up with the team tonight.  They have confirmed their flight and will be flying to Brasilia tonight at 9:00.

Join us in praying for these two as the head down tonight - pray for safe travels and some good rest for them.  Be in prayer for our team members who are in Brazil as they meet up with our Brazilian volunteers tonight.  Be in prayer for tomorrow as we will train all day with our Brazilian volunteer team and develop relationships with them.

Thanks so much for all of your support and we will start posting daily blog posts this week with some photos of what all has been going on as well.

So good to hear that you have arrived safely! We will continue to pray that the rest of the team arrives safely and that there are no other problems, and that the training sessions go well. May God Bless and Keep you all!
