WinShape Camps International Project 2011

We are so excited that in just a few days our first team will be headed down to Brasilia, Brazil for the 3rd year of the WinShape Camps International Project. We will continue to partner with local churches in the Brasilia area to bring a one-week day camp experience to the children of Brasilia. The campers will have time each day in a large group setting (Groupo Grande), small groups, and in some skill times (oficinas). All campers will go through a Rec Skill, an Arts and Crafts Skill, and a Skill split to focus on "Girl World" and "Man Land" each day.

During the first week of camp we will partner with 2 churches. We will be using the facilities of the International Church in Lago Sul (ibcbrasilia.org) and hosting children and volunteers from a church in the area of Paranoá. During the second week of camp we will be partnering with El Shaddai Baptist Church in a community called São Sebastião, which is right outside of Brasilia.

Our teams are made up of previous WinShape Camps Summer Staff who have served at least one summer with WinShape Camps and are committing to come and serve with WinShape Camps again this coming summer. We are excited to be able to take some of our collegiate staff to give them an opportunity to serve in another country, to be able to truly realize how big that God is, and to help train and equip leaders in the Brasilia area.

On Thursday (3.3.11 and 3.10.11) the teams will head to Atlanta to do some state-side training and then will be flying through Friday night (3.4.11 and 3.11.11) to arrive in Brazil on Saturday morning. Camp will be hosted Monday through Thursday each week (3.7-3.10 and 3.14-3.17) and our teams will celebrate by touring the city and area on Friday and Saturday morning.

We ask that you join us in praying for the teams in the following ways:
  • Pray for traveling safety for both teams to and from Brazil
  • Pray as we go through customs in both countries that things will go very smoothly for our teams
  • Pray for the volunteers from Brazil that we will be partnering with during camp -Pray that they have a great experience, learn a lot of effective ways to do children's ministry, and pray that they build relationships with the campers that will last much longer than our week-long trip.
  • Pray for our the campers - Over the course of the 2 weeks we will host 300 campers at a WinShape Camps program in Brazil. Pray that they will be impacted in their faith, character, and relationships. Pray that they will grow deeper in/or enter into their relationship with Christ.
  • Pray for our Team of staff. Pray they will not loose sight on why we are there. Pray that they will teach and equip the Brazilian leaders, that they will love and encourage our camper, and pray that they are intentional with every moment they are in Brazil.
Below you will see the photos of our two teams. You can click on the photos to see a larger image - Feel free to print these off and use them to pray for our teams over the next couple of weeks:

I will be praying for you all each day for your spiritual strength!--Ephesians 3:14-19

May God grant each of you safety, strength, and wisdom so that His name will be glorified by your efforts!

Ahh, I will always have a special place in my heart for Brasil... what an incredible place. Praying for hearts to be changed, and the Lord to move. The gospel is powerful. Expect the Lord to do beautiful things in the church, the city, and the hearts of believers and nonbelievers. :)

So excited for you guys. Praying often.

Praying for the team every day, knowing God will do great things as you serve Him. Look forward to hearing how the Lord is working!

Hope you had a smooth flight and landing. Looking forward to seeing what God has in store.
